He referred to the twelfth thoracic as the “second center place,” and I had one of the most respected chiropractors in North America advise me, “When in doubt, adjust T12.”

INTUITIVE LISTENING

LISTEN to your Heart and your Mind
   Knowing WHERE to adjust your loved ones is important AND easy. There are two steps:
1) First, listen to your intuition, that inner voice that tells you the truth. Where does your heart tell you the real problem is?
2) Second, use your educated mind.
Think: the brain and spinal cord are encased in strong bones. Why? Protection! So, the nerves generally run inside that protection as far as possible, and you will often find the subluxation in the spinal area nearest to the symptoms.
Therefore, if your loved one is suffering from a headache, think "neck subluxation." If the symptoms are stomach ache, think "mid-back." If the symptoms are cough and sore throat, think "upper back or neck."
CAUTION: when your heart and head do not agree, follow your heart; trust your intuition as you gently adjust your loved ones.

STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
We recommend that you have someone else read, and you follow the instructions in order.

Home Chiropractic Adjustments for the Mid-Back

After you have listened to your heart and mind,
and know where you should adjust

1. Ask and receive permission from your loved one.
2. Quiet your mind and focus your intention. Pour your love in. Why? How?
3. Have your loved one lie face down (prone) on a FIRM surface. Beds and couches are too soft. A cushion under the forehead is comfortable.
4. Stand or kneel next to him, with your body facing the head.
5. Place your hands palms down on the back just above the spot where your heart and mind sense trouble, one hand on either side of the spine.
6. Your fingers are together, pointing towards your loved one's head
7. Now press toward the collar bones, as the arrow in the photo shows. Try to put more weight on the palm pads of your hands than on the heels. The palm pads are just below your fingers.
8. Focus your healing intention and love on the joint and nerves under your hands. Bounce lightly -- 1-2-3 times -- to free the "stuck", subluxated vertebrae. If you hear a slight “click” like a light switch turning on, that's good! If you hear nothing, that's OK, too.
9. Now move up an inch and do it again.
10. Move an inch down the spine and do it all again.
11. 3-5 light bounces on each spot should take about 20 seconds -- total. So gentle, so quick!
12. You may want to take another 20-30 seconds to gently “rub out” some of the tight muscles just around the trouble spot.
13. STOP: You have given a gentle home chiropractic adjustment. Leave it alone.

We recommend that you have someone else read, and you carefully follow the instructions in order until you memorize the simple pattern. (Remember, practice doesn't make perfect. Perfect practice makes perfect.)

A GENTLE TURN-AROUND
Here is another safe home chiropractic technique for the mid and upper back. You may use this technique instead of, or in addition to the previous method.

1. Have your loved one lie prone, on a FIRM surface. Beds and couches are too soft. A cushion under the forehead is comfortable.
2. Stand or kneel beside her, facing directly across the loved one's body.
3. Place your right hand next to the spine, on the side of the body CLOSEST to you. Your fingers are pointing toward the head.
4. Place your left hand on the opposite side of the spine, just a trifle (1/2 inch) closer to the buttocks, with the fingers pointing toward the buttocks. (NOTE: both of your thumbs are toward you -- more or less.)
5. Focus your healing intention and love on the joint and nerves under your hands. Bounce lightly and quickly STRAIGHT DOWN -- 3-5 times -- to free the "stuck", subluxated vertebrae. If you hear a slight "click" like a light switch turning on, that's good! If you hear nothing, that's OK, too.
6. You will naturally be rotating one vertebra to the right, and the one above or below it to the left. Do not try to twist. Bounce straight down.
7. Now move up 2 cm (1”) toward the head and bounce there. Then 2 cm below your first spot.
8. Finally, switch hands, as in the second photo, and do it all again.
9. If the first adjustment created a slight clockwise rotation, this one will be counter-clockwise. You many not need both. Listen to your intuition.
Total time: 20-30 seconds.

STOP: You have given a gentle home chiropractic adjustment. Leave it alone.

3. WHAT TO EXPECT:
Usually within 30-60 seconds your loved one will notice improved motion and less pain in the back. Warm, healing energy will flow more freely from brain to tissue cells, and better health will result.
Expect to adjust the same place several times if the underlying problem has existed for months or years. Every tissue can regenerate -- but real healing takes time.

WHAT IF A JOINT "CLICKS", "CRACKS" OR RELEASES?
Often a subluxated joint will release with a gentle click. This may happen during your adjustment, or several minutes afterward. Usually there will be a new, comfortable feeling of freedom at that spot. Occasionally, muscles may cramp briefly as the body guards itself against this new mobility. This is a good sign. Let your loved one lie or sit still for a minute or two and the muscles will relax again.
(In the rare event that the cramping lasts more than 5 minutes, look and listen again [INTUITIVE LISTENING] and adjust what you find even more gently. Rub any tight muscles for 15-20 seconds. You will find and relieve the problem. Have faith in yourself.)
